This is Emily’s pile of belongings, soon to be moved into her dorm in Nashville. On the one hand, as a person who was born and raised in Pennsylvania, mostly in suburban Philadelphia, and who then lived in Florida for WAY TOO LONG, the idea that my kid is going to college in Nashville is weird. On the other hand, it’s only about an hour away from where we live now, so it really shouldn’t be weird.
Today my fab husband took Emily to her Indoc training. Then we go back Saturday morning to cry watch her get sworn in and then go through the move-in process once again. I think I mentioned that. This pile of belongings is not too big. I think it would fit easily in one car, except for one thing: She wants us to include the big Foof chair that fits two people and is made of puffy foam. I dunno about that. We may have to take it to her later. Do you see the drum set from Rock Band 2 peeking out? Yeah. Essentials. I guess that means there is an Xbox lurking around in there somewhere, too.
I have discovered a new passion which I am going to start indulging very soon: Spray painting as a transformative art. I first noticed how great it was when I spray painted the shutters in the remodeled bathroom downstairs. My fab husband hung them from a tree branch with clear fishing line and I went to town, I think 3 coats that time. Super fun and they looked so cool twisting in the breeze under the tree branch. I have a collection of things which I intend to spray paint sometime soon, including a few containers and a really cool dining room set given to us by my wonderful inlaws. I’m also on the lookout for some lamps with great shapes but fugly finishes. I heard Goodwill is a great place for that. Then there are the cabinet knobs in my kitchen. I think there are 29 knobs. The ORB (oil-rubbed bronze) knobs I have been admiring are $9 each. I think the knobs I have are sort of similar. I just don’t like the finish. I hear they make ORB spray paint and a great metal primer spray paint, too. Let’s see: $300 vs. $10? I think I know which I’m going to try first.
Oh and I will leave you with this little gem: They are expecting the Cumberland River to flood tonight. Guess what flooded last spring when the Cumberland River flooded? Yes. Vanderbilt. Guess where we are headed Saturday morning? Yes. Vanderbilt. I think Nashville has had enough flooding for one year, don’t you? I won’t even get started on the Cookeville Flood of yesterday….mostly because I have to scoot to work! I think it’s all receded by today, though. Think dry thoughts!
