I have been so quiet here lately and it'd be much more gratifying to go on and on about how busy I've been, but the truth is that things have been quiet all around. However, I am enjoying a gorgeous autumn once again. As I write this in my cozy chair in the studio, I can look up and see orange and red, and to the side and see gold and still green. Yay!! Yesterday morning I got up early to work for a little while and saw a deer right outside the window. Usually when I see one deer I end up seeing 4 or 5 because they travel in a little deer-pack, but yesterday it was just the one. For all I know he stops by every morning but I'm usually asleep at 6:00 in the morning.
I'm mulling over a new installment of Neighbor Wars but one of my children found photos of them online somewhere and emailed them to me recently (what a mean child) so I have to make sure I pace myself. And no, you won't be seeing those photos here. Or names. Ever. Even though my story is sadly, 100% true. And it gets 100% worse. Maybe 1000%. Woohoo!
I am getting ready to throw myself back into the scrapbook/paper crafting thing. I have a set of projects in mind. My studio is all cleaned up except for the desk top, which is covered with deferred decisions and the products of laziness. It's just that horizontal surface syndrome rearing its ugly head. Things pile up on horizontal surfaces around here. They always have.
One child had fall break last week and spent a long weekend here, which was lovely. Mostly she spent it out and about visiting her friends, but still it was lovely. Another child's fall break starts tomorrow, so we expect much the same when she arrives home tomorrow afternoon. Everybody keeps asking me if I have "empty nest syndrome" and really...no. I don't think just because a syndrome is common, you have to experience it. So far, so good. I am a quiet person by nature and I do not require a lot of social interaction, so having no children at home just means that I read more and maybe spend too much time watching TV. I do miss them, but I talk to them either on the phone or on facebook nearly every day. so I'm sure it's not nearly as extreme a change these days as it used to be when kids went off the edge of the earth in search of independence and enlightenment, right?
