If you are a scrapbook sort of person, you might know that this is a “Week in the Life” for 2011. It’s a brainchild of this lady named Ali Edwards. You can find out more about it here: Ali Edwards Week in the Life Project. It’s a pretty cool idea. At first I was sort of lamenting that this has been a dull week to document, but then I decided that that is the best sort of week you could possibly document. Most people’s lives, when you come right down to it, are sort of routine and not that exciting, and that’s where you find the real stuff, the sturdy fabric, the rhythm of it all. So what if I have one photo each day of my little orange cat draped and lounging at my desk, awaiting my 5 p.m. arrival for her daily quotient of worship and cheek scratching (not on top of the head unless she invites you, please). Or more than one photo of my gray cat’s incessant begging to turn on the bathtub faucet. It’s his best trick, after all. I even took a photo of the two flights of stairs I climb 4-5 days a week on my daily trek to pick up and/or drop off my part-time work. Today was a little more exciting than usual. I picked up a new temporary client, so there was an extra stop in the afternoon routine. Ordinarily, it would be just about time for me to sit down to enjoy my nightly toil, but we are currently enjoying a “low work” situation, so I opted out of my usual, brief, Thursday night gig. It will be nice to take a little break.
So what’s up for me for the rest of my Week in the Life? I think I may take a trip over to the local Big Lots to see what’s new. I would rather go to Big Lots 100 times than to WalMart even once. I don’t really understand exactly why that is, but it’s definitely so. Big Lots is a little run down, has a weird collection of merchandise, and our WalMart is newly remodeled with all sorts of new and exciting things, but I will pass it up every time in favor of the orange store up on the hill with the weird and impatient cashier man whose combover has gone from amusing to somewhat alarming, balanced on the edge of some critical mass equation as it is currently. Always an adventure.
Would you like to see some photographic evidence of my boring, boring Week in the Life? Of course you would. Let me see what I can come up with.
This is a sight I see multiple times a day. Sam is very serious when it comes to begging for water. Very serious and very vocal.
Here’s one of the many “Charlie is draped across my desk” (she is there now waiting for me but alas I will not be there) photos:
I spend quite a bit of time here (in fact, I’m here now!):
This has been a good reading week so far. I have read about 1.5 books. Yay! I’ll probably be done with the last half of #2 and onto #3 before the evening is over. That green thing is my NookColor, by the way. Awesome, miraculous invention by angels. Love that thing. Just to the left of the computer and Nook is my work desk (and, currently, Charlie).
As you can see, not the most exciting week in my, or anyone else’s, life. Tomorrow things should ramp up a bit—maybe even a trip to the grocery store. WOW. And I will probably find time to update my neighor story this weekend. I hope!
Thank you, mommy! This REALLY cheered me up. :) Thank you for the kitties. :D
